Over 87% of Haitians do not have consistent access to electricity, and are reliant on energy from expensive, non-renewable fuels. With Arc Finance's new program, members of the Haitian diaspora can help send renewable energy products into Haiti. By helping provide environmentally friendly access to electricity to Haitians, Arc Finance is promoting lower cost-of-living expenses, improved access to energy, and reduced carbon emissions in Haiti.

The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund's grant to Arc Finance will help develop this innovative remittance transfer program. Members of the Haitian diaspora living in the US can directly purchase low-cost and energy efficient products, such as stoves as lamps, to send to Haiti. Haitian-owned goods-remittance company FoodExpress will then deliver the products.

Why We Invested in Arc Finance

Because of Arc Finance's model that promotes sustainable consumer access to efficient and reliable power sources, the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund's grant to ARC reflects our commitment to promote job growth and economic opportunity in Haiti. It also reflects our interest in engaging the Haitian diaspora.

Transforming Lives and Livelihoods

The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund grant to support Arc Finance aims to:

  • Sell 5,000 sustainable energy devices that will benefit approximately 30,000 people;
  • Provide low-cost, environmentally friendly access to electricity;
  • Make it easy for those in the U.S. to support family and friends in Haiti.
